Appeals

John Adams Courthouse, Boston, Massachusetts

The Appeals Court considers cases in which a party alleges that a trial court has made a mistake of law.

An appellate issue can arise from a trial court’s decision on a motion, an evidentiary ruling on a motion or at trial, or from any other issue that arises at trial. Attorney Lance’s extensive trial experience informs her understanding of trial court rulings that could form the basis of a successful appeal. Attorney Lance serves on the Appellate Panel of the Commonwealth’s Committee for Public Counsel Services and has prevailed in numerous appeals including cases involving 209A restraining orders and domestic violence allegations.
